  • Metro Ready Mix Recognized With ACI Excellence in Concrete Award for Vineyard Lift Station

Vineyard Utah, March 2014—Metro Ready Mix was awarded an ACI Excellence in Concrete Award for the design, quality, and innovation of the Vineyard Lift Station concrete project.

Located near the Lindon boat harbor just a few hundred yards from Utah Lake, the Vineyard Lift Station required a 32’ deep excavation with a 12’ wide over excavation, continuous dewatering, and sheet pile shoring with tie backs. The structure was constructed in very high ground water conditions, and it was imperative that no leaks were present upon completion.

There were many concrete elements and features used in construction, including large continuous pours, water stop, special wall thimbles for pipe penetrations, and water stop concrete ties. In addition, a waterproof membrane was installed as well as a significant quantity of heavy mats of #8 rebar. A 3’ thick footing and 30” thick walls were constructed to counteract potential buoyancy.

“It is very rewarding when the industry recognizes the hard work, quality, and innovation of our company,” said John Dunn, CEO of Metro Ready Mix. “On this particular project, we wanted to exceed expectations and build a structure to service the needs of the Vineyard community for many years to come.”
